How We Work on a Maine House

Nason's Home Solutions is owned by Nicholas Nason and works out of an office at 60 Freedom Parkway, Suite 1, in Hermon. We treat a house as one system. Water in the basement, air leaking into the attic and mold on the roof sheathing are usually parts of the same story, so we look at all of it before recommending any single fix.

1. A free on-site assessment. We walk the basement or crawl space, the living space and the attic, look for where water gets in and where heat gets out, and talk through what you are seeing. When the question is energy use, our Energy Audits with a blower door test measure how leaky the house is.
2. A written estimate. You get the scope, the price and a schedule in writing, with no pressure to commit.
3. Water and moisture first. A dry foundation comes before anything else, whether that is Exterior Waterproofing, Sump Pump Installation or Foundation Crack Repair.
4. Then air sealing and insulation. Gaps are closed with Air Sealing before Insulation Services covers them, so the insulation can do its job.
5. Rebate paperwork. As an Efficiency Maine registered vendor, we handle the paperwork for qualifying insulation and air sealing work.

What our certifications mean for you

BPI (Building Performance Institute) certification covers building science: how heat, air and moisture move through a house, and how to test it. IICRC (Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification) sets standards for water damage and mold remediation work. MICRO (Mold Inspection Consulting and Remediation Organization) certification is specific to mold assessment and remediation. Together they cover the three problems we see most in Central Maine houses: heat loss, water and mold.
